Speaker Series

What is the speaker series?

In February 2016, BLC co-hosted "Understanding Islam". We did this in an effort to care for our neighbors and to learn more about the Muslim faith. It was an amazing afternoon. In 2017, BLC Council decided invite speakers on a regular basis to provide opportunities educational opportunities to our community.

How often does BLC have a speaker come?

We have a speaker presentation quarterly, and most often on a Sunday afternoon. Sometimes we co-host with other congregations. The presentations are in our sanctuary.

How much does it cost?

Nothing! All events are free and open to the community. There is a light reception following each presentation.

What topics are covered?

We have hosted an introduction to Islam, and introduction to Judaism, and upcoming topics include the opioid crisis and human trafficking. We choose topics that are relevant to current events and will help people form educated opinions.

Upcoming Event: Novemeber 12, 2017

On November 12, 2017, Lt. Jim Cunningham from the Middletown Division of Police will be presenting information about the opioid crisis. This crisis is affecting our community in so many ways, and it is hard to know how to respond. We believe the first step to being part of the solution is to understand the problem. Lt. Cunningham share his insight and expertise.

Join us from 2:30 - 4:00 p.m. for this important presentation.
